About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential energy organization in their search for a Commodities Services Associate/Analyst. This role supports the commercial and trading organization through operational, reporting, and mid-office functions. Our client's team reconciles physical gas volumes and invoices with midstream counterparties, coordinates daily nominations and imbalance resolution with field operations, and builds and maintains the dashboards and reporting infrastructure that traders and leadership rely on for pricing, exposure, and market decisions.
This position is being hired at flexible levels—Associate or Analyst—depending on the candidate's experience. It's an entry point into the Commodities Services Team, working on operational, reporting, and mid-office support for the organization's trading operations.
Responsibilities
- Execute recurring reporting processes (daily, weekly, monthly) under supervision
- Assist in maintaining dashboards and reports using Power BI, Spotfire, Excel, and Endur
- Perform data validation and quality checks across systems
- Support trade support and operational workflows
- Compile and organize data for analysis and presentations
- Support senior team members with ad hoc analysis and special projects
- Support trading activities and operational reporting needs
- Gather and document requirements by collaborating with stakeholders
- Identify and implement incremental process improvements
- Reconcile monthly gathering and pipeline invoices against nominated and actual volumes
- Track and resolve imbalances, including imbalance trades in Endur
- Coordinate with field operations and production teams on nominations and volume questions
- Pull and validate data feeds from pipeline interconnects
- Support quarterly SOX and audit control testing for commercial transactions
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, data organization, formatting)
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- High degree of initiative, attention to detail, and accuracy
- Ability to follow structured processes and adhere to established workflows
- Willingness to learn—actively seeks feedback and adapts to change
- Foundational understanding of commodities markets (supply/demand drivers, price formation, major market participants)
- Foundational understanding of trading concepts (trade structures, order types, hedging, futures/derivatives)
Preferred:
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- Organization and time management skills; ability to multi-task under competing priorities
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Foundational understanding of the end-to-end trade lifecycle (origination, confirmation, scheduling, nomination, invoicing, settlement)
- Basic understanding of P&L and pricing concepts
- Foundational familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, Spotfire) and data visualization principles
- Ability to translate data insights into plain language for non-technical stakeholders
Location: Remote work is being considered for this role, excluding the following states: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Tennessee (unless willing to relocate).
