About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential senior healthcare organization in their search for a Stars Quality Improvement Professional based in the Houston area. Our client is seeking a dedicated professional to support clinical teams in implementing quality improvement programs focused on CMS Star measures, HEDIS compliance, patient safety, and patient experience initiatives.
This remote position requires local travel to medical centers and partner offices throughout the Houston market. You'll work collaboratively with clinical and operations teams to drive meaningful improvements in quality metrics and patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Support clinicians and staff in implementing quality improvement best practice programs for CMS Star measures (HEDIS), patient safety, and patient experience (CAHPS-HOS)
- Conduct medical record review, retrieval, and submissions to health plans to support HEDIS gap closure
- Use approved channels to outreach to patients with medication reminders and adherence support
- Distribute time-sensitive data to promote action on clinical teams and operations to address opportunities and close gaps
- Review and assess provider/member HEDIS data and gap reports to identify improvement opportunities
- Lead efforts to identify workflow deficiencies and barriers; develop strategies to achieve annual Stars goals
- Manage workloads including distribution of medication adherence reports to primary care providers
- Train and educate teams on CMS Star measures in one-on-one and group settings
- Present Stars performance information and create PowerPoint presentations for various audiences
- Collaborate with multiple partners to support and implement workflows designed to improve HEDIS, patient safety (such as medication adherence), and patient experience outcomes
- Support quality project events such as eye screenings and bone mineral density testing
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience working with CMS Stars measures
- Experience with healthcare STARS measures (HEDIS, Patient Safety, and Patient Experience/CAHPS/HOS), particularly knowledge of measure technical specifications
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting with direct hands-on patient care, front office, or provider relations
- Experience providing training in one-on-one or group settings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including moderate-to-advanced Excel skills
- Must reside in the Houston area and be willing to travel locally
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Prior LPN/LVN, Lead Medical Assistant, or Center Administrator experience
- Practical experience working with clinical Star measures, particularly medication adherence and HEDIS
Work Environment:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (occasional meetings after 5:00 PM)
- Remote work-from-home position with local travel to medical centers and offices
- Internet requirements: minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and upload speed of 10 Mbps; wired cable or DSL connection recommended
- Dedicated workspace required to protect PHI/HIPAA information
