Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential energy-tech client in München seeking a Data Engineer to build and maintain the data infrastructure that powers real-time energy monitoring and analytics across industrial sites throughout Europe.
In this role, you will:
- Design and implement meter data integration pipelines that collect readings from diverse industrial hardware and utility data streams, transforming them into consistent, reliable formats for downstream consumption
- Build anomaly detection and insight generation systems using data science techniques to identify consumption patterns, equipment drift, and operational inefficiencies that customers can act on
- Handle high-volume time-series data including ingestion, quality validation, backfills, and managing the reality of late, missing, or duplicated meter readings
- Develop scalable data pipelines and APIs in production cloud environments that support dashboards, forecasts, and business intelligence tools
- Collaborate within a 12-engineer team organized into two squads, with fast iteration cycles that deliver features to customers in weeks
What We're Looking For
Required qualifications:
- 3–5 years of data engineering experience building production pipelines that support mission-critical applications
- Hands-on data science background with experience building and evaluating models, distinguishing signal from noise, and deploying models in production environments
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL with demonstrated experience designing cloud-based data infrastructure, workflows, and APIs
- Proven ability working with high-volume time-series data, including data quality assurance and pipeline reliability
- End-to-end problem-solving mindset that prioritizes simplicity and systemic solutions over isolated complexity
- Clear written and spoken English required
Preferred experience:
- Background in energy, industrial systems, IoT, or other domains involving physical hardware telemetry
- Familiarity with metering protocols, device telemetry at scale, or streaming data architectures
- Proficiency in additional programming languages such as TypeScript or Kotlin
- DevOps mindset with experience in monitoring, alerting, and production debugging
- German language skills are a plus
