Weather Analytics Internship Program

We are representing a global energy and commodities trading organization in their search for a Weather Analytics Intern to join their specialized team in Berlin. This six-month internship runs from 15 February 2027 through 12 August 2027 and offers hands-on experience working with weather data, forecasting products, and analytical tools that support commercial decision-making in energy markets.

Program Details: Six-month full-time, on-site internship in Berlin. Application deadline: 20 September 2026. Applicants must be available to commence on 15 February 2027.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Weather Analytics team on technical, analytical, and data visualization projects
• Support development, testing, and improvement of APIs and tools for accessing and distributing weather data and products
• Analyze and process weather datasets using Python and relevant analytical tools
• Support visualization of weather products in internal platforms
• Work with weather data formats and ecosystem tools, potentially including ECMWF ecCodes
• Build understanding of numerical weather prediction, AI weather models, and the broader weather data ecosystem
• Present findings, outputs, and technical progress clearly to weather, analytics, and commercial stakeholders

What We're Looking For

Essential requirements:

• Strong academic background in Computer Science, Atmospheric Sciences, Meteorology, or a closely related technical or quantitative discipline
• Strong Python skills with ability to analyze, manipulate, and interpret complex datasets
• Demonstrated application of data analysis, coding, or quantitative methods to practical problems through academic projects, internships, research, or personal projects
• Demonstrable interest in weather, forecasting, climate, energy markets, or commodities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with structured, detail-oriented approach
• Effective communication skills and collaborative mindset
• Business-level English proficiency

Advantageous qualifications:

• Familiarity with weather ecosystem tools such as ECMWF ecCodes
• Knowledge of numerical weather prediction, AI weather models, weather data formats, or meteorological datasets
• Experience with APIs, data visualization, dashboards, or internal tooling
• Exposure to energy markets, power markets, renewables, or commodities
