About This Opportunity

Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a leading global commodities trading organization in their search for analytics interns to join their power trading and renewables teams. This is a structured six-month internship program running from 15 February to 12 August 2027, based in Grenoble, France.

This program offers hands-on experience working directly with front office teams on data-driven projects that support commercial decision-making, portfolio optimization, and risk management across energy markets. You'll gain deep exposure to how analytics supports real trading and portfolio decisions in renewables and power markets.

The program covers multiple analytics focus areas including power analytics, PPA optimization, balancing risk management, systematic quantitative research, and renewables portfolio analytics. Final role allocation will be based on business need, your profile, and overall fit.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with front office teams on data-led projects within renewables, power trading, or balancing risk management
• Analyze large market, trading, and asset-related datasets to identify insights supporting commercial decisions, portfolio management, and systematic trading strategies
• Develop, test, and improve analytical tools, models, dashboards, and workflows using Python and other relevant technologies
• Support optimization under uncertainty, forecasting, predictive modeling, simulation, reporting, and risk management activities based on desk requirements
• Conduct market research and present findings clearly to both technical and commercial stakeholders
• Contribute to day-to-day desk activities, building practical understanding of how analytics supports trading and portfolio decisions

What We're Looking For

Essential requirements:

• Strong academic background in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Quantitative Economics, Finance, Energy Economics, or related STEM field
• Strong Python programming skills with demonstrated ability to analyze, manipulate, and interpret complex datasets
• Solid grounding in statistics, econometrics, machine learning, predictive modeling, or optimization, with ability to apply quantitative methods to practical trading, market, or risk problems
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, detail-oriented approach
• Evidence of applying data analysis, coding, or quantitative methods to practical problems through academic projects, internships, research, or personal projects
• Demonstrable interest in energy markets, with ability to discuss relevant industry developments in power, renewables, risk management, or commodities trading
• Business-level English proficiency
• Right to work in France for the full six-month internship duration
• Effective communication skills and collaborative mindset, with confidence to work closely with commercial and technical stakeholders
• Intellectual curiosity and motivation to understand how market fundamentals, data, and commercial decisions interact

Advantageous experience:

• Experience with SQL, data visualization, advanced modeling techniques, or applying machine learning/AI to market, trading, or quantitative research problems
• Exposure to optimization, forecasting, time-series analysis, quantitative finance, algorithmic trading concepts, or large trade/market datasets
