Engineering Manager – Core Infrastructure

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cybersecurity organization seeking an Engineering Manager - Core Infrastructure to lead platform engineering efforts. Our client processes massive event volumes at global scale and needs an experienced leader to build self-service infrastructure primitives that empower development teams across the organization.

This is a hybrid role based in the United States, requiring participation in an office schedule if you are near one of their locations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a team of platform engineers focused on building quality, scalable infrastructure
• Participate in architecting large-scale core infrastructure services for engineering teams
• Lead regular retrospectives, capacity planning, and team collaboration sessions
• Review, provide feedback, and approve design proposals from your team
• Drive cloud cost optimization efforts while balancing performance requirements and operational efficiency
• Define and enforce standards for service deployments across multi-cloud environments
• Help plan the product roadmap and participate in technical proof-of-concept demonstrations
• Manage on-call responsibilities and support distributed team collaboration

What We're Looking For

Technical Requirements:

• 8+ years of industry experience in infrastructure engineering
• Experience with configuration management tools (Chef, Puppet, Salt, or similar)
• Proficiency in provisioning and orchestration tools (Pulumi, Terraform, Ansible, Temporal, or similar)
• Strong software development skills in Python or Go, including design patterns and data structures
• Experience with immutable architecture and distributed systems design
• Expertise operating large-scale Linux environments in AWS and GCP
• Knowledge of TDD, CI/CD, and Chaos Engineering practices
• Familiarity with SRE, DevOps, and GitOps methodologies
• Experience building reusable infrastructure modules and internal developer platforms
• Strong understanding of SLO management, error budget planning, and post-incident analysis
• Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance workflows and drive efficiency

Leadership Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience as a people manager
• Previous experience leading teams of senior engineers
• Track record of influencing engineering strategy beyond your immediate team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to work effectively with local and remote teams
• Balance of independence and collaborative judgment
