Shopify Specialist

About This Role

We are representing a confidential client in the e-commerce technology sector who is seeking a Shopify Specialist for a remote contractor engagement. This is a part-time role requiring approximately 5-10 hours per week, offering flexibility for experienced professionals looking to contribute their domain expertise to an innovative project.

Our client is working on next-generation systems where your real-world Shopify knowledge will directly shape how models learn and perform. No AI experience is required—your hands-on e-commerce expertise is what matters most.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate e-commerce task structures and workflows, identifying areas where they diverge from actual platform capabilities and data models
• Provide clear, actionable written and verbal feedback on the realism and completeness of analytical scenarios and deliverables
• Advise on core data objects including orders, products, customers, and reporting to ensure analytical tasks align with real-world platform usage
• Identify gaps, edge cases, and unrealistic assumptions in scenario framing based on your direct hands-on experience
• Recommend improvements to task structures, terminology, and metrics grounded in e-commerce best practices
• Validate consistency of terminology and definitions with standard e-commerce analytics language
• Suggest additional cases and refinements that better reflect the operator and analyst perspective

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of deep, hands-on experience within the Shopify ecosystem—across store operations, development, or analytics
• Comprehensive knowledge of Shopify's data model, including orders, products, customers, and reporting structures
• Strong foundation in e-commerce analytics: conversion metrics, retention analysis, cohort studies, and revenue measurements
• Proven ability to communicate feedback clearly and effectively in both written and verbal formats
• Direct experience advising on best practices for structuring e-commerce analytical work
• Nice to have: experience with multiple stores, or work as a consultant or agency professional
• Plus: familiarity with Shopify Plus, advanced reporting tools, SQL, or BI platforms such as Looker
