Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential consumer products organization in their search for an Engineering Manager based in London. In this role, you will lead a team of mechanical and product design engineers to develop the next generation of innovative consumer products.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading your team to conduct design studies that solve technical and consumer challenges throughout product development
• Developing a high-performing team of engineers, helping them reach their full potential
• Taking ownership of designs from conception through CAD execution, prototyping, and verification while maintaining rapid pace
• Continuously evaluating and improving designs for cost efficiency, manufacturing optimization, quality enhancement, and consumer value
• Applying sound engineering and product design standards to deliver practical solutions
• Leveraging knowledge of high-volume manufacturing processes and materials to optimize designs
• Collaborating seamlessly with cross-functional and executive teams to move great ideas through to production
• Communicating effectively and professionally across the organization

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks candidates with the following qualifications:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or Industrial Design Engineering
• 2+ years of people management experience
• 7-10 years of proven experience in mechanical, product, or industrial design environments
• Experience delivering real-world products to market
• Background in plastic manufacturing processes
• High-level proficiency with SolidWorks or Creo, with demonstrable experience leading CAD reviews
• Experience in consumer goods or household appliances is desirable
• Ability to motivate teams to identify, solve, implement, and verify technical solutions autonomously
• Hands-on experience building prototypes, conducting product testing in lab environments, and developing reports
• Flexible, collaborative mindset with a positive, driving attitude and inquisitive nature
• Appreciation for electrical engineering, software, and UX design helpful but not essential
