Position Summary
Bjak, Southeast Asia’s largest digital insurance platform, is expanding its presence in the UK and seeks a Director of Compliance and Risk to lead regulatory strategy, risk governance, and compliance operations. This role will be pivotal in designing frameworks, policies, and controls from scratch as BJAK enters and scales within the UK market.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain compliance frameworks aligned with UK regulatory requirements, specifically FCA standards.
Ensure BJAK operates transparently, fairly, and ethically to protect consumers.
Serve as the primary contact with the FCA and other relevant UK bodies for regulatory matters.
Interpret regulatory changes and guide business strategy accordingly.
Build policies and controls covering AML, KYC, data privacy, consumer duty, distribution, and claims-related compliance.
Conduct risk assessments and implement remediation plans for identified gaps in compliance operations.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Director of Compliance or similar role within the financial services industry, preferably with SMF16 (Compliance Oversight) Senior Management Function.
In-depth knowledge of UK regulatory requirements and FCA guidelines.
Strong leadership skills to build compliance capability and culture across the organization.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with regulators, partners, and industry stakeholders.
A proactive approach to identifying risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.
