About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential fintech organization experiencing exceptional growth in the financial services sector. Our client is building transformative infrastructure for cross-border transactions and is seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join their London-based engineering team. This is a rare opportunity to work on greenfield development and contribute to systems that will serve millions of users globally.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems that power innovative financial products. Your work will span both greenfield development and enhancement of existing critical infrastructure.
- Build and maintain REST APIs and microservices architecture
- Develop and evolve core business systems including payment processing, treasury management, transaction booking, and related financial infrastructure
- Work primarily with Java 25 on the backend alongside PostgreSQL databases
- Leverage Spring Boot to deliver high-quality solutions efficiently
- Apply clean code principles with emphasis on maintainability and rapid iteration
- Practice Test-Driven Development (TDD), Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and continuous integration and delivery methodologies
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrable experience in backend development with strong fluency in Java
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related Engineering/Science discipline
- Track record of building complex products used by millions in high-growth startup environments
- Quick learner with ambitious, results-driven personality
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English (verbal and written)
- Passion for solving challenging technical problems at scale
