Platform Engineer (Mid Level)

We are representing a confidential energy-tech organization seeking a Platform Engineer to join their team in Bristol or London on a hybrid basis. This is an opportunity to build and evolve internal developer platforms that empower software teams and drive engineering productivity across cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in building scalable, reliable platforms that enable seamless software development, deployment, and operations. Your contributions will directly impact how development teams leverage cloud infrastructure while eliminating toil and reinforcing security safeguards.

• Engineering Foundations: Build a scalable, reliable, and developer-friendly platform that promotes seamless software development, deployment, and operations
• Automation & Tooling: Develop tools to abstract complex platform aspects from developers, improving developer experience and operational efficiency
• Infrastructure as Code: Use tools like Terraform, Helm, and Crossplane to manage and automate provisioning of cloud infrastructure while championing GitOps best practices
• Monitoring & Observability: Establish robust monitoring and logging foundations in collaboration with the wider Site Reliability Engineering function
• Security & Reliability: Incorporate security best practices, ensure compliance, and participate in out-of-hours on-call rotations to troubleshoot and prevent recurrent issues
• Stakeholder Coordination: Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate upgrades and hold service providers accountable

What We're Looking For

• Experience building and shipping production applications
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a curiosity to solve problems
• Experience using cloud platforms such as AWS (preferred), Google Cloud, or Azure
• A strong desire to create and maintain Kubernetes clusters in production, or existing experience doing so
• Solid foundational understanding of distributed systems
• Experience with CI/CD, GitOps, and Infrastructure as Code technologies

Work arrangement: Hybrid working with 3 days per week in the office (Bristol or London)
