Knowledge Specialist

WGU is seeking a Knowledge Specialist in Salt Lake City, UT to join our team in a full-time capacity. In this role, you'll play a key part in organizing, managing, and sharing the knowledge that powers our educational mission.

About This Position

The Knowledge Specialist position is central to how Western Governors University captures, organizes, and distributes the institutional knowledge that enables our team to serve students effectively. Based in our Salt Lake City headquarters and working full-time, you'll help build and maintain the systems and processes that allow colleagues across the organization to access critical information quickly and easily. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in creating order from complexity and loves helping others find what they need.

Your Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain knowledge management systems, databases, and documentation repositories
• Create clear, well-organized knowledge resources and documentation of key processes and best practices
• Partner with teams across WGU to identify information gaps and develop solutions that improve knowledge accessibility
• Monitor knowledge quality, accuracy, and relevance, keeping resources current and usable
• Develop training materials and support onboarding programs to help staff quickly build competency
• Analyze how knowledge flows through the organization and recommend improvements to efficiency

• Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation abilities with meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to explain complex information clearly
• Experience working with knowledge management platforms, databases, or information architecture
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders
• Problem-solving orientation with genuine focus on user experience and information accessibility
• Background in an educational, corporate, or institutional knowledge management environment
