Group Finance Director – Insurance & Investments

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential financial services organization in Suriname that is seeking a Group Finance Director to lead financial strategy across their insurance and investment operations. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Group CFO/CEO, with responsibility for consolidated financial management across multiple business units and subsidiaries.

Our client operates in a complex, regulated environment spanning insurance underwriting, investment management, asset management, and related financial services. You will provide strategic financial leadership to the Board, Executive Committee, and key stakeholders while driving performance improvement and financial transformation across the Group.

Responsibilities

• Lead Group-wide financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management across all business units
• Oversee consolidated financial reporting, management accounts, statutory accounts, and financial analysis for multiple subsidiaries
• Drive FP&A activities, profitability analysis, cost optimization, and financial performance improvement initiatives
• Monitor and analyze financial performance across insurance, investments, asset management, and other Group businesses
• Manage insurance finance functions including premium revenue, claims, reserves, reinsurance, underwriting performance, and profitability analysis
• Lead financial reporting and accounting for investment and asset management portfolios, including valuation, income recognition, performance measurement, and reporting
• Support Group-level capital planning, solvency management, liquidity optimization, and balance-sheet oversight
• Oversee treasury operations, cash management, funding requirements, and working-capital optimization
• Strengthen Group-wide financial controls, governance frameworks, policies, and risk management systems
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, insurance regulations, investment regulations, and statutory reporting obligations
• Provide financial analysis and support for M&A, joint ventures, strategic investments, restructuring, and capital allocation decisions
• Partner with senior executives to improve business-unit profitability, operating efficiency, and return on capital
• Lead finance transformation projects including ERP implementation, automation, management reporting enhancements, and digital finance initiatives
• Develop and mentor Finance Directors, Controllers, Heads of Finance, and senior finance professionals across the Group
• Serve as key financial advisor to the Group CFO, CEO, Executive Committee, Board, auditors, regulators, and investors

What We're Looking For

Experience Requirements:

• 15–20+ years of progressive finance experience, preferably within insurance, investment management, asset management, banking, pensions, reinsurance, or diversified financial services
• Proven experience operating at Group, regional, or multi-entity level with complex consolidation responsibilities
• Previous experience as Group Finance Director, Finance Director, Group Financial Controller, Deputy Group CFO, or senior finance executive
• Strong understanding of insurance accounting, investment accounting, financial reporting, capital management, treasury, and regulatory finance
• Demonstrated experience managing complex consolidated reporting structures across multiple subsidiaries
• Strong commercial understanding of investment portfolios, financial markets, capital allocation, and business performance drivers
• Experience supporting M&A, corporate transactions, strategic investments, or restructuring highly desirable
• Proven leadership managing geographically dispersed finance teams

Education & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related discipline
• Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA, CFA, or equivalent strongly preferred
• Additional qualifications in insurance, investment management, or financial risk advantageous
