Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential cloud infrastructure organization building a sovereign, self-hosted cloud platform in German data centers. You will shape the platform architecture that powers critical SaaS applications for insurance providers and public sector clients operating under BSI C5 compliance standards.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Design, build, and evolve a multi-cluster Kubernetes platform using the SUSE stack (Harvester, RKE2) with dedicated tenant environments
  • Architect high-availability Kubernetes clusters including networking, storage, load balancing, and authentication components
  • Develop and maintain the tenant isolation concept, managing architecture and lifecycle for customer environments
  • Collaborate with development teams on performance and availability requirements for cluster and tenant design
  • Advance high-availability concepts including distributed in-memory approaches across multiple nodes
  • Implement GitOps workflows through ArgoCD and Fleet for automated deployment and Day-2 operations
  • Build Infrastructure as Code using Ansible, Terraform, or comparable tools; implement Policy as Code for security and governance
  • Integrate and standardize CI/CD deployment processes
  • Provide platform engineering support to internal development teams, building self-service capabilities and onboarding standards
  • Support development teams migrating workloads to the cloud platform
  • Process insights from production monitoring and incidents to continuously improve stability, security, and performance

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

  • Several years of experience in cloud or platform engineering, container technologies, or infrastructure automation
  • Strong Kubernetes knowledge, ideally from operating production multi-cluster environments
  • Experience with GitOps workflows (ArgoCD or Fleet preferred) and Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, or similar)
  • Fluent German (minimum C1 level) and very good English, both written and spoken
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings and office locations

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with SUSE stack or comparable Kubernetes management platforms
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps, Policy as Code, or high-availability architectures
  • Familiarity with monitoring stacks such as Prometheus and Grafana
  • Systems thinking with focus on the complete picture rather than isolated tickets
  • Confident communication with development teams and clients
  • Structured, independent, solution-oriented working style
  • Experience coordinating topics across team and customer boundaries
