Senior Software Engineer, Engineering Operations

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential enterprise software organization undergoing an AI-first transformation. Our client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Engineering Operations team, where you will play a crucial role in building scalable processes that enhance development efficiency, reliability, and quality across their engineering organization.

This is a fully remote position offering the opportunity to work on high-impact platform engineering challenges. You'll be instrumental in evolving internal development workflows to support autonomous, AI-augmented engineering practices while ensuring the organization can scale its product development efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Lead implementation of automated engineering lifecycle processes, including AI-assisted release management, autonomous dependency updates, and proactive CVE remediation
• Optimize CI/release health and development velocity using metric-driven approaches to identify and eliminate bottlenecks in AI-first workflows
• Collaborate with stakeholders to implement CI strategy and engineering best practices across the organization
• Identify friction points in engineering workflows and transform them into automated, self-sustaining systems capable of handling increased volume from AI-augmented development
• Partner effectively with software engineers, engineering leaders, and cross-team stakeholders to drive platform improvements

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Strong software engineering experience with proven track record of delivering results, preferably in Java
• Specialization in fullstack or backend development
• Demonstrated passion for engineering operational excellence including CI/CD optimization, dependency management, release process enhancements, metrics collection, and build efficiency
• Track record of owning and developing engineering processes end-to-end
• Deep experience with CI build tools (GitHub Actions, Maven, Docker) and automation scripting (Shell/Python) in complex projects such as monorepositoriesstrong collaborator with ability to deliver impactful solutions in platform-like environments
• Experience with developer experience tools and process optimization, including driving AI adoption
• Comfortable with "you build it, you run it" mindset and taking full ownership of codebase deployment and operations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience designing efficient cross-team operations
• Practical experience with BPMN workflow systems
