About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential consumer goods organization based in Hamburg that is seeking an experienced Chief Business Officer to lead strategic growth initiatives. Our client operates a profitable direct-to-consumer business and is now ready to expand into new channels and markets with the right commercial leader at the helm.

This is a true business-building role with full P&L ownership, direct partnership with the founding team, and the mandate to create and scale new revenue streams from the ground up. You'll have the autonomy to make decisions quickly and the resources of a financially healthy company behind you.

Responsibilities

As Chief Business Officer, you will own and build the following strategic growth areas:

• Marketplace expansion: Launch and scale operations on major European e-commerce platforms. You decide which channels to enter, negotiate commercial terms, build the operational infrastructure (team or agency), and ensure profitability while maintaining brand integrity and pricing discipline.
• B2B development: Establish and grow the corporate and institutional sales channel—from employee benefit programs and corporate platforms to framework agreements with larger organizations. This is an untapped opportunity with significant potential that you will own end-to-end.
• Strategic partnerships: Develop co-branding opportunities and licensing models that extend the brand into new categories or markets, selecting partners that align with company values and positioning.
• Corporate development: Lead strategic transactions including financing rounds, M&A preparation, and due diligence processes. Evaluate inorganic growth opportunities and manage external advisors throughout deal execution.
• Major contract negotiations: Take ownership of the company's most critical commercial agreements—seven-figure sourcing deals, logistics contracts, real estate, and strategic service providers. You will negotiate with full backing from leadership.

What We're Looking For

• Multiple years of commercial leadership experience in consumer goods, D2C, e-commerce, or retail environments
• Proven track record building and scaling a channel or business unit from zero to profitability—with specific results you can cite
• Strong understanding of marketplace economics (fee structures, returns, advertising costs, pricing dynamics) is highly advantageous
• Demonstrated success negotiating contracts with significant economic impact—results-driven, not just process-oriented
• Experience with financing processes, equity transactions, or M&A activities
• Expertise managing business through contribution margin and cash flow metrics, with data-driven decision-making capabilities
• Hands-on leadership style: you build first, then scale your team, and thrive in environments where outcomes matter more than process
• Fluent German and English for negotiations and stakeholder management
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to move quickly and make decisions with incomplete information
