About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential financial services organization seeking a transformational technology executive to lead their API strategy and digital ecosystem development. Based in Barbados, you'll establish the API function as a strategic driver of business growth, developer engagement, and platform expansion. You'll bridge business strategy with technology innovation, turning APIs into revenue-generating assets while building thriving developer and partner ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute enterprise-wide API strategy aligned with business objectives and digital transformation goals
• Establish API governance frameworks, architectural standards, and lifecycle management policies across the organization
• Build and manage developer communities, partner ecosystems, and third-party integration programs
• Drive API monetization strategies, pricing models, and commercial partnership opportunities that create new revenue streams
• Lead Open Banking, Open Finance, and Embedded Finance API initiatives ensuring regulatory compliance and industry standard adherence
• Oversee API product management from design through deployment, defining roadmaps and service portfolios
• Implement API security, authentication, authorization, and data protection frameworks meeting cybersecurity best practices
• Monitor API performance, analytics, and business outcomes to optimize products and customer experiences
• Drive adoption of modern API technologies including gateways, management platforms, and developer portals
• Build and lead high-performing teams across API product management, engineering, architecture, and developer relations

What We're Looking For

Required Background:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or Business Administration (MBA or Master's preferred)
• 12+ years of leadership experience in API management, enterprise architecture, digital platforms, or fintech sectors
• Proven track record developing and managing enterprise API ecosystems at scale
• Strong background in Open Banking, Open Finance, platform strategies, or digital transformation initiatives
• Experience leading large-scale integration programs and developer ecosystem growth

Technical Expertise:

• Deep knowledge of API design patterns including REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and event-driven architectures
• Hands-on experience with API gateways, management platforms, and developer portal technologies
• Understanding of Open Banking and Open Finance standards and regulatory requirements
• Proficiency in cloud computing, microservices, and enterprise integration strategies
• Strong grasp of cybersecurity, identity management, data governance, and privacy frameworks
