Engineering Lead

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing fintech platform that is transforming how global debt markets operate. Our client has built a category-defining product serving 300+ blue-chip institutions worldwide, and they are expanding rapidly across the US and European markets. We are seeking an Engineering Lead based in London to help scale their platform, set technical direction, and build high-performing teams.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves engineering craft but recognizes their greatest impact comes from enabling others to thrive. You'll guide cross-functional teams, shape critical architectural decisions, and deliver meaningful product experiences that make complex data accessible and impactful.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a high-performing, cross-functional engineering team, fostering a culture of motivation, empowerment, and pride in impact
• Stay engaged with technical design, code reviews, and architectural decisions while balancing leadership responsibilities
• Translate ambitious product visions into scalable, production-ready solutions through sound, data-driven technical and strategic decisions
• Partner closely with product managers, designers, and data teams to align priorities, shape roadmaps, and deliver platform capabilities
• Coach and develop senior engineers, enabling them to take ownership of technical initiatives and expand their influence
• Maintain deep understanding of system architecture, performance, and reliability to guide long-term investment in stability and scalability
• Hire, onboard, and support exceptional engineering talent through dedicated one-on-one conversations and trust-building

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience leading high-performing engineering teams and delivering impactful products
• Deep technical expertise in software development and system design, ideally with experience in Python, TypeScript, AWS, or Terraform
• Experience designing and building scalable systems in production environments
• Product and design-oriented mindset, skilled at translating user and business needs into high-quality solutions
• Effective communicator and collaborator across engineering, product, and design functions
• Passionate about mentoring, developing talent, and fostering inclusive, positive team culture
• Committed to operational excellence, long-term technical quality, and reliable systems
• Track record of shipping iteratively at a fast cadence while ensuring sustainable growth
