Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential energy technology client seeking a Software Engineer for Linux OS development. In this role, you will be responsible for the operating system of embedded gateway devices, creating the foundation for a secure, stable, and scalable ecosystem that enables operation, monitoring, and updating of a device fleet.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining a secure, modular Linux operating system for gateway hardware
- Designing and implementing frameworks and interfaces for device fleet monitoring and updates
- Integrating solutions for device identification, authentication, and authorization to ensure maximum security
- Driving Linux OS topics forward independently, taking technical developments from concept through to successful implementation
- Contributing to the digitalization of energy networks through robust embedded systems
What We're Looking For
Our talent team is seeking candidates with:
- Strong knowledge of modern software development workflows including version control with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code reviews
- Proven experience in Linux operating system development and software architecture design
- Proficiency with Yocto for creating and customizing Linux distributions
- Solid programming skills in C++ and Python
- Excellent knowledge of Docker and containerization technologies
- Experience with secure system design, including threat modeling
- Strong sense of ownership and excellent communication skills as a team player
- Ability to maintain overview and actively shape complex systems
- Very good German language skills, both written and spoken
Location: Karlsruhe, Germany (hybrid work model with 2 days per week on-site)
