About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-funded AI infrastructure company based in Paris. Our client is looking for a Product Engineer (Backend) to build and scale the core systems that power policy enforcement and real-time processing for AI applications. You'll work with Rust to design high-performance APIs, data pipelines, and services handling hundreds of millions of requests monthly.

This is a hybrid role based in Paris with relocation support available for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build backend services in Rust optimized for real-time processing with low latency and high reliability
  • Own features end-to-end from API design through database schema to production deployment and monitoring
  • Improve system performance through connection pooling, caching strategies, query optimization, and observability tooling
  • Collaborate directly with product and research teams to translate requirements into production-ready systems
  • Work across the stack when needed to solve complex technical challenges

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Proven experience building and shipping backend systems in Rust, Python, or Go
  • Strong proficiency with async Rust (Tokio), web frameworks such as Axum or Actix, and database access patterns
  • Solid fundamentals in system design including trade-off analysis, failure modes, and scaling strategies
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL including efficient query writing, schema design, and performance debugging
  • Clear communication skills and fluent English

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with ClickHouse, Redis, or Kafka/event streaming systems
  • Background with LLM infrastructure including routing, inference systems, or RAG architectures
  • Prior work in high-throughput environments such as monitoring systems or fintech
