Product Engineer – Full Remote

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Product Engineer for a fully remote position based in Costa Rica. Our client is expanding their internal development capabilities and needs a senior full-stack engineer with strong backend expertise to join their distributed team. This role requires working in PST timezone and fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of web and mobile applications with a primary focus on backend systems (approximately 70% backend, 30% frontend)
• Architect scalable and reusable backend systems using Python frameworks such as Django or FastAPI
• Build robust APIs ensuring high standards of performance, reliability, and security
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle
• Optimize application performance and address challenges related to data processing and system integrations
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers, promoting engineering best practices
• Leverage AI tools to streamline development workflows and enhance product capabilities

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of software development experience with demonstrated backend expertise in Python and solid frontend capabilities
• Backend proficiency: Python, Django or FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
• Frontend and mobile experience: React, React Native, JavaScript/TypeScript, plus knowledge of mobile CI/CD pipelines and performance optimization
• AI and automation: Comfort using AI-assisted development tools to enhance productivity
• Problem-solving strength: Analytical mindset with a proven track record of tackling complex technical challenges and delivering quality solutions
• Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal English communication, essential for effective remote collaboration
• Product-focused mindset: User experience orientation with ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Team collaboration: Self-driven, proactive approach suited to distributed, agile startup environments
• Bonus qualifications: Experience in fintech, marketplace platforms, or scaling products in high-growth environments
