Scrum Master

We are representing a confidential client in the financial technology sector who is seeking an experienced Scrum Master to join their delivery organization. Our client is a well-established company with a strong commitment to agile practices and continuous improvement. This role offers the opportunity to work with cross-functional teams in a complex enterprise environment, driving effective execution and fostering collaboration across value streams.

As a Scrum Master, you will serve as a delivery leader responsible for enabling team effectiveness, improving flow, and coaching stakeholders in agile and lean practices. This position goes beyond facilitating ceremonies—you'll actively partner with Product, Engineering, Architecture, and IT Portfolio Management to help teams deliver value predictably and sustainably.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate Scrum ceremonies and team-level planning activities to drive clarity, alignment, and outcomes
• Coach teams on backlog readiness, estimation, and commitment practices while balancing quality, predictability, and flow
• Support teams in managing dependencies, risks, and impediments, escalating through appropriate channels as needed
• Promote transparency into delivery progress using tools such as Azure DevOps
• Help teams understand and use delivery metrics (flow, predictability, throughput) to inform continuous improvement
• Facilitate retrospectives that lead to actionable improvement experiments
• Partner with IT Portfolio Managers to provide reliable insights into team delivery status and capacity
• Collaborate with other Scrum Masters to align practices and manage cross-team dependencies
• Foster a psychologically safe environment that supports learning, experimentation, and honest feedback
• Apply and reinforce agreed delivery standards, readiness expectations, and tooling practices
• Use frameworks pragmatically (Scrum, Kanban, Scrumban) based on team context and maturity

What We're Looking For

• Hands-on experience as a Scrum Master in a software delivery environment
• Strong facilitation and coaching skills with the ability to influence without authority
• Systems thinking mindset—understanding dependencies and flow beyond a single team
• Clear communication skills across both technical and non-technical audiences
• Pragmatic and outcomes-focused approach, not dogmatic about frameworks
• Curious, empathetic, and committed to continuous improvement
• Experience working in complex or enterprise environments preferred
• Financial technology industry experience strongly preferred
• Experience working with Data Engineering Scrum Teams a plus
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps and collaboration platforms
• Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley and public company requirements is beneficial

Location and Work Arrangement

This position is open to remote work across the United States. Team members residing within 20 miles of the client's headquarters will follow a hybrid schedule with three days per week in office. Occasional travel may be required for quarterly events.
