About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential nonprofit health services organization in their search for a Behavioral Health Training Specialist focused on recovery and community supports. This is a contingent opportunity pending contract award, and our talent team is identifying qualified candidates now to move quickly once funding is confirmed.
In this role, you'll deliver specialized training and technical assistance to help behavioral health providers navigate disability benefits access—primarily Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)—for the individuals they serve. You'll work with both clinical and non-clinical audiences, building training curricula grounded in person-centered, recovery-oriented practices.
Responsibilities
Training Delivery and Facilitation
- Independently deliver training for clinical and non-clinical staff on disability benefits access and behavioral health programs
- Develop and continuously update training curricula and materials using adult learning principles
- Provide coaching and technical assistance to agencies to improve application quality and success rates
- Collect feedback and outcome data to refine training effectiveness
Technical Expertise
- Maintain current working knowledge of SSI/SSDI programs, disability determination processes, and recovery-oriented behavioral health practices
- Apply evidence-informed practices and program evaluation findings to training design and delivery
- Track outcomes and identify quality improvement opportunities
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with behavioral health providers and community organizations
- Serve as an ongoing resource for staff navigating disability benefit processes
- Incorporate input from individuals with lived experience to ensure training relevance
Continuous Improvement and Collaboration
- Contribute to the development of training resources, toolkits, and statewide guides
- Collaborate with fellow trainers to share best practices
- Support standardization of training practices across assigned programs
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in behavioral health, recovery supports, or related social services
- Demonstrated experience delivering training, coaching, or technical assistance using adult learning principles
- Working knowledge of SSI/SSDI and other disability benefit processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear training materials
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple training engagements simultaneously
- Willingness to travel as needed to deliver in-person trainings (10–15% travel)
- Must be currently eligible to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available
- Must be able to perform all work within the continental United States
- Ability to work core hours aligned with Eastern Time
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience or residence in Michigan is highly valued
- Lived experience navigating disability benefits or behavioral health systems—personally or through a family member—is valued and may substitute for some formal experience
Work Environment
- Remote position with occasional in-person collaboration
- Hybrid arrangement available for candidates near Silver Spring, MD or Novi, MI offices
- Remote employees must maintain a dedicated, ergonomically appropriate workspace with reliable internet
