DevOps Engineer – Release & Deployment (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential software organization in Frankfurt am Main that develops secure, cloud-agnostic solutions for critical infrastructure environments. Our talent team is seeking a DevOps Engineer focused on Release & Deployment to join their interdisciplinary AppFactory team.

In this role, you will:

• Design, build, and operate CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions for fast, stable, and repeatable software releases to production
• Automate build, test, and deployment processes while continuously improving release quality and velocity
• Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Bicep for Azure environments, driving shift-left practices
• Collaborate closely with development, testing, and operations teams to establish DevOps best practices
• Implement modern deployment strategies including Blue/Green, Canary, and Rolling deployments
• Analyze incidents in the release process, identify weaknesses, and develop sustainable solutions with the team
• Advise on release and deployment architecture design, matching requirements to available solutions
• Take an active architecture role in projects from requirements analysis through solution design to technical implementation
• Serve as technical point of contact for release and deployment questions for internal development teams and external stakeholders

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks candidates with:

• Completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or comparable qualification with equivalent practical experience
• Multiple years of professional experience in Release Engineering, DevOps, or CI/CD Engineering, ideally in consulting or product environments
• Strong understanding of Git, branching, and tagging strategies
• Experience in direct customer contact or advisory roles such as Solution Engineer or Technical Consultant
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, with ability to explain complex architectures clearly
• Deep knowledge of CI/CD tooling: Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or comparable platforms
• Understanding of release promotion processes across Development, Test, Pre-Production, and Production environments, plus hotfix and release strategies
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or Bicep/ARM
• Experience with Kubernetes deployment and rollback processes, artifact management, and container image versioning (Docker, AKS)
• Familiarity with different system architectures: Monolith, Monorepo structures, Multi-Tier, and Microservices
• Knowledge of cloud architectures, preferably Microsoft Azure
• Independent, solution-oriented work style with high quality standards and hands-on mentality
• Fluent German and English language skills, written and spoken

Bonus qualifications:

• Helm Chart versioning and GitOps workflows (e.g., Argo CD, Flux)
• Experience in agile development environments (Scrum, SAFe)
• Monitoring & Observability tools: Azure Monitor, Grafana, or Prometheus
• Azure or DevOps certifications (e.g., AZ-400, AZ-104)
