Sr. Underwriting Specialist, Allied Healthcare

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential insurance organization seeking a Sr. Underwriting Specialist for their Allied Healthcare division. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of healthcare-focused accounts, applying advanced technical and analytical skills to drive profitable growth.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Identifying, underwriting, and selling new and renewal Allied Healthcare accounts that align with strategic growth goals
• Applying advanced underwriting concepts including risk selection, exposure identification, coverage analysis, and loss evaluation
• Managing an assigned book of business to achieve premium, profitability, retention, and new business targets
• Building and maintaining long-term relationships with agencies and internal teams
• Developing and executing independent portfolio business plans with organized workflow management
• Analyzing key metrics to uncover trends and new business opportunities
• Coordinating with specialty departments to identify cross-sell opportunities
• Making regular sales presentations to agents and customers on complex accounts
• Implementing territory business plans and adjusting strategies to maintain a robust pipeline

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of Allied Healthcare underwriting experience
• Strong preference for candidates with wholesale and non-admitted business background
• 5+ years of experience driving agency relationships that result in profitable new and renewal business
• Strong technical knowledge of healthcare facilities and their unique risk profiles
• Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time (by car or plane)
• Demonstrated high-level proficiency across core underwriting competencies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with capacity to manage multiple concurrent projects
• Adaptability to change and willingness to act as a change advocate
• Track record as an informal leader who proactively shares knowledge and expertise
