Systems & Controls Accountant

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential open-source software organization seeking a Systems & Controls Accountant to lead finance automation and process excellence. Our client operates globally with distributed teams and serves enterprise customers worldwide. We're looking for a technically-savvy accounting professional who can bridge the gap between finance and systems implementation.

This role will drive best practices in NetSuite configuration, revenue recognition automation, and cross-functional process alignment. You'll work with teams across product, legal, FP&A, and sales operations to ensure accounting treatment is straightforward, auditable, and highly automated. This is a leadership position that requires confidence in presentation, goal-setting, and directing work across technical and finance functions.

Location: Remote (EMEA, LATAM, Canada, USA time zones)

Responsibilities

• Lead complex NetSuite configuration, workflows, customization, and integration with connected business systems
• Implement data governance, security, and compliance best practices within ERP and CRM platforms
• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and KPIs to provide insights into business performance
• Coordinate system maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance
• Oversee sandbox environments for development and testing, ensuring seamless deployment to production
• Drive end-to-end automation of the full financial lifecycle across teams and systems
• Research and write accounting memos on relevant policy matters, particularly revenue recognition
• Develop and maintain effective internal controls over revenue transactions and reporting
• Act as primary liaison with external auditors on systems and controls matters
• Provide training and support to end-users to enhance efficiency with financial systems
• Mentor and develop accounting and finance professionals within the organization

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• CPA, CA or equivalent professional accounting qualification
• Excellent technical accounting skills with deep IFRS experience
• Detailed understanding of IFRS revenue recognition rules for SaaS and services
• Leadership or management experience
• Experience with software licensing, subscription, and services revenue accounting
• Proven track record driving and scaling accounting processes in high-growth environments
• Experience with ERP, revenue recognition, CRM, and CPQ systems (NetSuite and Salesforce preferred)
• Proficiency in script understanding and technical problem resolution
• Experience in multi-country, multi-currency operations and tax environments
• Professional written and spoken English
• Ability to travel twice yearly for company events (up to two weeks)

• Software implementation, integration, and user acceptance testing experience
• Software engineering qualification or hands-on experience
• Data analytics capabilities
• MBA or other relevant business degree
• Passion for technology and working with technically-driven teams
