About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential cybersecurity organization seeking a Principal Consultant for their Strategic Advisory Services practice. In this leadership role, you will serve as the primary engagement lead for complex security program assessments, tabletop exercises, and proactive initiatives that help organizations strengthen their defenses before incidents occur. You will work directly with executive stakeholders across diverse industries, produce high-caliber deliverables, and contribute to thought leadership while supporting business development and resource management activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead large-scale strategic advisory engagements from kickoff through delivery, serving as the principal point of contact for client executives and senior leadership
- Assess cybersecurity maturity, incident response capabilities, and organizational readiness; develop tailored roadmaps and improvement plans
- Design and facilitate cutting-edge tabletop exercises and simulations that test the full spectrum of client response capabilities
- Produce executive-level written reports, presentations, and strategic recommendations that clearly communicate findings and actionable next steps
- Contribute thought leadership through blog posts, white papers, and speaking engagements at industry events
- Monitor emerging cybersecurity trends and translate insights from government and private sector sources into client-relevant guidance
- Manage internal programs, support staffing and scheduling of consulting resources, and participate in business development initiatives
- Travel to client sites up to 30% of the time, sometimes on short notice
What We're Looking For
Core Experience (8–15 years in one or more areas):
- IT/Security Management Consulting: Leadership roles owning executive relationships and advising on both technical controls and operational security topics including policy, organizational alignment, and program strategy
- Security Program Development: Hands-on experience building or enhancing SOCs, CSIRTs, fusion centers, or enterprise security functions from strategy through implementation
- Security Analysis/Operations: Leadership positions in SOC, IR, or operational security teams with a proven ability to distill technical findings into executive communications
- Business Strategy/Risk Analysis: Experience developing and applying organizational risk frameworks to address cyber risks across private or government entities
- Cybersecurity Policy: Authorship or significant contribution to enterprise or government security policies, plans, and playbooks, ideally with experience transitioning plans into operational practice
- Public/Government Affairs: Deep experience helping government organizations or partners refine cyber priorities and communicate across technical and non-technical stakeholder groups
Required Qualifications:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in fast-paced professional environments
- Proven ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with diverse customers and team members
- Strong project management capabilities, including the ability to juggle multiple concurrent engagements
- Self-motivated with a desire to continuously expand cyber knowledge, technical awareness, and consulting skills
- Demonstrated experience using AI technologies to improve decision-making, streamline processes, and drive outcomes
- Ability to complete complex strategic analysis and development tasks independently
- Consistent positive attitude and collaborative mindset
- Willingness to travel domestically up to 30%, often on short notice
Education: BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, Cybersecurity, Public Policy, Intelligence Studies, or related field preferred. Candidates without a degree but with relevant military or work experience are encouraged to apply.
