Area Scout

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential professional sports organization seeking an Area Scout to identify and evaluate amateur talent. In this role, you will:

• Evaluate and recommend amateur players for the annual draft
• Utilize in-person evaluations, video analysis, data, and technology to inform player assessments
• Compose comprehensive scouting reports on draft-eligible players
• Build and maintain relationships with players, families, and members of the baseball community
• Conduct thorough background and character assessments of prospects
• Plan and organize workouts for organizational evaluation purposes
• Maintain area schedules and prioritize coverage of top prospects
• Collect and upload video on draft-eligible players to internal systems
• Perform professional scouting coverage as assigned
• Collaborate with employees across departments to support talent acquisition goals

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in scouting, coaching, education, business, or related fields
• Strong knowledge of baseball evaluation and player development
• Prior playing experience is a plus
• Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
• High proficiency with computers, internet tools, and video systems
• Strong self-motivation, organizational skills, and attention to detail
• Ability to work long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, often in adverse outdoor conditions
• Ability to own and operate a vehicle and travel extensively throughout assigned territory
• Flexibility to thrive in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment
