Backend Engineer – Platform – Stacks | Sweden | Remote

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-scaling observability platform company seeking a Backend Engineer to join their Platform team. This is a remote role open to candidates in the UK, Germany, Spain, Ireland, and Sweden.

Our client operates a critical SaaS platform serving thousands of enterprise customers globally. The Application Core Services team builds the essential systems that drive business operations—from billing engines and marketplace integrations to customer provisioning and account management portals. You'll be joining the Stacks squad, which owns the control-plane systems that create, configure, and operate cloud environments at scale.

This position sits at the intersection of product, platform, and operations. You'll work on reconciliation systems that keep customer environments aligned across multiple backend services, manage configuration rollout for plugins and dashboards, and support new region deployments. The systems you build directly impact both customer experience and internal operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate reconciliation systems to track desired state, detect drift, and repair misalignment across distributed services and customer environments
• Collaborate across backend services and deployment configurations to ensure lifecycle workflows remain reliable, observable, and resilient
• Improve operational efficiency by reducing deployment complexity and contributing to configuration reconciliation projects
• Manage rollout mechanisms for provisioned plugins, dashboards, data sources, software versions, and environment-level configuration
• Support new region and cluster rollouts, including operational paths required to bring customer environments online safely
• Improve incident response and recovery paths for state misalignment, reconciliation failures, and integration issues
• Partner with Product, Infrastructure, Support, and adjacent engineering teams on customer-impacting lifecycle work
• Contribute to roadmap planning, technical design, on-call improvements, and long-term simplification of operations
• Own production behavior including runbooks, dashboards, alerts, reconciliation safety, rollout controls, and recovery procedures
• Participate in follow-the-sun on-call rotation when ready

What We're Looking For

Required:

• At least 1 year of fully remote work experience
• Experience working on a SaaS platform with familiarity in distributed systems concepts (scalability, multi-tenancy, high availability)
• Professional experience with Golang, willing to work across backend service and application code
• Deep care for developer and user experience and product quality
• Experience contributing to project delivery from initial brainstorming through shipping to customers
• Ability to write clean, well-tested software that other engineers can understand, operate, and maintain
• Capability to take well-defined tasks, break them down, and execute iteratively to deliver working solutions
• Willingness to collaborate across teams and align work with other squads and stakeholders
• Familiarity with Kubernetes in AWS, GCP, or Azure, and exposure to infrastructure-as-code tooling (Helm, Terraform, Jsonnet, etc.)
• Experience participating in blameless incident response and post-incident reviews

Bonus qualifications:

• Experience with TypeScript/Node.js
• Experience with Kubernetes control-plane patterns, operators, reconcilers, or desired-state systems
• Experience with Jsonnet/Tanka, Terraform, Flux, Argo, or similar deployment/configuration tooling
• Experience working on SaaS provisioning, tenancy, regional expansion, plugin rollout, or customer lifecycle systems
• Experience with incident response involving configuration drift, partial failure, or cross-service state mismatch

Pay

For candidates in Sweden, the compensation range is SEK 609,985 - SEK 762,481. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed throughout the interview process. This role also includes equity (RSUs) as part of the total compensation package.
