Cybersecurity Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-established federal contracting firm seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to join their growing team. Our client provides comprehensive architectural and engineering solutions to government agencies, operating in challenging environments across global locations. This is a remote position within the United States.

We're looking for independent thinkers who are self-motivated, communicate proactively, and thrive in collaborative team settings. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex federal projects requiring innovative cybersecurity solutions across classified and non-classified systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate closely with federal customers in the design, implementation, and assessment of security requirements on classified and non-classified systems
• Develop and implement designs and documented assessments of security controls
• Execute cybersecurity best practices in the design, construction, and commissioning phases of projects utilizing the Risk Management Framework (RMF) as defined by NIST
• Oversee development and execution of Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M)
• Prepare Requests for Exceptions (RFE) to document non-compliant security controls and coordinate with stakeholders to plan remediation timelines
• Assist in the configuration of secure systems and test security products/systems to detect computer and information security weaknesses

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field preferred; combination of related industrial security experience will be considered
• 5+ years of experience working with and implementing DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) process and NIST Special Publication series guidelines as applied to military systems
• Experience with cybersecurity engineering, cybersecurity solution development, or security vulnerability remediation
• Specialized knowledge in cybersecurity security training and awareness, investigations, systems security administration, and network security control
• Experience with the RMF 6-Step process as part of DoD programs
• Current Department of Defense (DoD) Directive 8570/8140 IAT Level II Certification
• Ability to transfer, obtain, and maintain a U.S. government security clearance
• U.S. Citizenship required
