About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential climate-tech nonprofit in their search for a Business Operations Manager. Our client is a mission-driven organization developing data solutions for the global energy transition, with a distributed team of approximately 50 professionals working remotely across multiple continents.

This is a full-time position on an annual contract basis with renewal options, available exclusively to candidates based in Namibia or Botswana. The role is fully remote with no travel requirements and reports directly to the CEO.

The organization has doubled in size over the past two years and now requires an experienced operations professional to professionalize their management systems, including their ISO27001 framework, ensuring continued efficiency as they scale.

Responsibilities

As Business Operations Manager, you will take full ownership of operational processes across the organization, including:

• Maintaining and improving the ISO27001 management system and coordinating annual audits and accreditation renewals
• Managing company-wide risk registers, ensuring risks are documented, reviewed, and appropriately tracked
• Coordinating internal ISO audits, evidence collection, corrective actions, and external audit preparation
• Driving cross-functional operational initiatives and projects using project management tools
• Managing vendor assessment, onboarding, review processes, and relationship management in line with ISO requirements
• Identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies, automation (including AI), standardization, and process improvements
• Working closely with Department Heads to improve operational effectiveness and reduce administrative overhead
• Maintaining operational documentation and knowledge management systems securely
• Supporting business continuity planning and operational resilience initiatives
• Monitoring compliance with internal operational requirements and external obligations
• Providing accurate operational reporting, tracking, and coordination to senior leadership

Note: This role does not include People Operations, HR, Payroll, Finance, Accounting, Sales, Business Development, Marketing, or Customer Success responsibilities.

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Minimum 8 years of experience in business operations, operational excellence, governance, compliance, project management, or similar operational roles
• Proven experience maintaining operational processes, governance documentation, and compliance records
• Demonstrated experience coordinating complex cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Experience owning or managing ISO management systems (or similar frameworks) and supporting external audits
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage operational documentation accurately
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes in a remote environment
• Experience managing vendors and external service providers
• Excellent written communication skills and experience working asynchronously across time zones
• Continuous improvement mindset with enthusiasm for optimizing systems and processes
• Fluency in English (mandatory)

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with ISO 27001, SOC2, NIST CSF, or similar information security frameworks
• Familiarity with donor-funded or nonprofit environments
• Experience with operational tooling, project management platforms, workflow automation, and documentation systems
• Experience maintaining risk registers and governance frameworks
• Prior work in fast-growing IT sector companies
• Experience working with distributed, fully-remote teams
• German language proficiency
• Degree in business administration, operations management, or related field (experience valued over formal education)
