Senior Software Engineer in Hardware Infrastructure Observability

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cloud infrastructure organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Hardware Infrastructure Observability team in the Netherlands. Our client is building large-scale AI cloud platforms and operates data centers globally. This role focuses on low-level monitoring, automation, and reliability engineering for server fleets and data center systems.

The team operates as a product engineering group embedded within hardware infrastructure, owning the full lifecycle from requirements through rollout and ongoing operations. You'll build platforms and tooling that provide real-time visibility and control at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop services and agents that provide deep visibility into large server fleets and data center engineering systems
• Evolve metrics, aggregation, and alerting pipelines while improving signal quality
• Build maintenance workflows and automation that keep infrastructure healthy and enable safe fleet-wide changes
• Investigate incidents hands-on, including on-host debugging, and drive root-cause fixes
• Collaborate with hardware, networking, and data center operations teams to improve reliability
• Manage large-scale projects involving multiple stakeholders
• Break down complex tasks and provide technical guidance to junior colleagues
• Contribute to system design and architectural decisions
• Participate in hiring and technical interviews
• Mentor team members and share knowledge across the organization

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Excellent knowledge of Python and Golang, or readiness to quickly switch to these languages
• Strong Linux fundamentals
• Ability to write reliable code and investigate complex technical problems
• Working proficiency in English
• Strong architectural thinking and experience contributing to system design
• Track record of assessing task priority and focusing on high-impact work
• Experience writing high-quality code that can serve as a reference for others

Bonus qualifications:

• Solid understanding of modern server architecture and components
• Experience with Prometheus-compatible metrics, monitoring, and alerting stacks (such as VictoriaMetrics)
• Strong knowledge of computer networks
• Experience designing, developing, and running high-load distributed systems

Authorization to work in the Netherlands is required.
