Certified Nurse Midwife – Obstetrics, Per Diem/Casual, Rotating/Days

Northwestern Memorial Healthcare seeks a dedicated Certified Nurse Midwife to join our obstetrics team in Lake Forest, IL. This is a part-time, per diem position with rotating day shifts, offering flexibility and the opportunity to provide compassionate, evidence-based maternity care in a dynamic healthcare setting.

About This Position

As a Certified Nurse Midwife specializing in obstetrics, you'll deliver exceptional care across the full spectrum of reproductive health services at our Lake Forest facility. This per diem role allows you to choose your schedule while contributing meaningfully to our maternity program. You'll work day shifts on a rotating basis, bringing your clinical expertise and patient-centered approach to a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive prenatal assessments and provide ongoing pregnancy care and counseling
• Manage labor and delivery care, including fetal monitoring and clinical decision-making
• Perform vaginal deliveries and assist with cesarean sections under physician supervision
• Provide immediate postpartum care for mothers and newborns
• Develop individualized birth plans and education for expectant families
• Collaborate with obstetricians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams on complex cases
• Maintain detailed clinical documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards

Who We're Looking For

• Current CNM certification from the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM)
• Active RN licensure in Illinois
• Demonstrated expertise in obstetric care and low-risk to moderate-risk deliveries
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with diverse patient populations
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development
