Credit risk manager

MET Group is recruiting a Credit Risk Manager for its Budapest, HU office. This is a full-time, remote position within our Finance department, open to qualified professionals ready to lead risk assessment and portfolio management across our operations.

What This Role Involves

As a Credit Risk Manager at MET Group, you'll be responsible for evaluating and monitoring credit exposure across our business operations. Working remotely from Budapest or elsewhere, you'll develop credit risk strategies, maintain oversight of counterparty risk, and ensure compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory requirements. Your analytical expertise and judgement will directly influence how we manage financial risk and protect shareholder value.

Your Responsibilities

• Assess and approve credit applications and facilities whilst maintaining portfolio quality standards
• Monitor existing credit exposures and identify early warning signs of deterioration
• Prepare credit risk reports and present findings to senior management and governance committees
• Develop and maintain credit rating methodologies and risk classification frameworks
• Ensure compliance with credit policy, regulatory requirements, and internal control standards
• Collaborate with business units to understand transaction structures and underlying risks
• Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis to evaluate portfolio resilience

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a closely related field
• Minimum 4–6 years of professional experience in credit risk management or an equivalent role
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in financial modelling
• In-depth knowledge of credit risk assessment techniques and credit rating methodologies
• Thorough understanding of regulatory frameworks and Basel III standards
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, SQL, and risk management software platforms
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex analysis to diverse audiences
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment
