Director of Finance

Role Overview

We're seeking an experienced finance leader to oversee all financial management, planning, and compliance functions across KIPP's Columbus region. In this pivotal role, you'll partner with school administrators, corporate leadership, and board stakeholders to ensure sound fiscal stewardship while advancing our mission to expand educational opportunity. You'll manage budget development, financial reporting, internal controls, and strategic planning initiatives that directly support student success.

Core Duties

• Develop and oversee annual budgets and multi-year financial forecasts across multiple schools and departments
• Direct accounting, accounts payable, payroll processing, and financial record management to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Prepare financial statements, variance analyses, and reports for school leadership, boards, and external stakeholders
• Establish and monitor internal controls, audit procedures, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Lead cash flow management, grant administration, and fund development support for school operations
• Collaborate with school principals and program directors on financial planning and resource allocation
• Mentor finance team members and oversee professional development within the department

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or advanced certification preferred
• 7+ years of financial management experience, including budget responsibility and team leadership
• Expertise in nonprofit, education, or public finance accounting and compliance
• Advanced proficiency with accounting software, financial systems, and Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical skills with ability to translate data into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; proven ability to work collaboratively across organizations
