About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential global travel technology client in their search for a Director of Finance. Our client is a fast-growing marketplace platform operating across 70+ countries, recently backed by significant venture capital funding. This is a rare opportunity to lead the Accounting and Finance function for an organization shaping the future of ground transportation, working across diverse markets in Asia, Europe, and LATAM.

This role reports directly to the CFO and offers the chance to build and scale financial operations during a high-growth phase. The position is based in Berlin with hybrid flexibility, though our client operates as a remote-first organization and will consider candidates from other locations.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop the Accounting and Finance function, ensuring delivery of high-quality work and achievement of team objectives
• Own financial operations including invoicing, accounting, controlling, budgeting, liquidity, and cash flow management on a global scale
• Manage clearing and settlement processes across multiple international markets
• Drive continuous process improvements within the finance function, leveraging automation and technology to streamline workflows and increase efficiency
• Organize structured internal and external reporting in compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements
• Build and maintain relationships with banks, accounting offices, financial authorities, and other stakeholders; oversee external service providers
• Monitor and manage cash flow and foreign exchange to ensure adequate liquidity
• Analyze key financial metrics and provide insights and recommendations to senior management for strategic decision-making
• Collaborate with the CFO and senior leaders to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with company goals
• Partner with cross-functional teams including product, technology, commercial, and operations to support strategic initiatives and financial planning
• Provide guidance during due diligence processes for funding rounds
• Provide leadership, development, and motivation to the team; set clear goals and promote a sustainable team structure

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years post-qualification experience, preferably with Big 4 training
• Strong technical accounting background with ability to develop innovative approaches to numbers and reporting
• Experience leading high-performing teams of 10+ people
• Industry experience in travel and/or payments strongly preferred
• Strategic thinker capable of driving global growth in a fast-paced environment
• Strong strategic, conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Positive "can do" attitude with eagerness to own and take responsibility for projects and processes
• Deep knowledge of accounting principles, taxation rules, international regulations, and financial processes
• Transactional exposure and M&A experience helpful
• Fluent in English and German
