About This Position
The Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Center, a collaborative research hub between Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine, is building its next generation of faculty leaders. This full-time Assistant Professor role focuses on translational and basic research within our Leukemia Translational Research Program. You'll design and direct innovative studies aimed at understanding leukemia biology and mechanisms, while contributing to our mission to improve outcomes for children with hematologic malignancies.
Core Duties
- Develop and oversee a research program investigating fundamental mechanisms of pediatric leukemia
- Conduct both basic laboratory research and translational studies that bridge discoveries toward clinical application
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present work at national and international conferences
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of physicians, scientists, and clinical researchers
- Mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior researchers
- Seek and manage extramural funding through federal grants and foundation support
- Participate in departmental committees and service activities
What We're Looking For
- Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent terminal degree with demonstrated research excellence
- Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications and research productivity
- Expertise in oncology, hematology, cell biology, molecular biology, or related disciplines
- Strong commitment to mentoring and academic development
- Ability to secure competitive external funding
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
