We are seeking a full-time Research Technician II - Genomic and RNA Profiling to help advance high-throughput sequencing and molecular profiling services.

About the Role

As a Research Technician II - Genomic and RNA Profiling, you will play a hands-on part in the daily functioning of the GARP Core Facility. Working with advanced genomic technologies such as PCR and next generation sequencing (NGS), you will prepare and process samples submitted by facility users while ensuring instruments run accurately and reliably. This Houston-based, on-site position is ideal for a detail-oriented technician who thrives in a collaborative core laboratory setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out specialized procedures involving genomic profiling methods, including PCR and next generation sequencing workflows.
  • Configure, calibrate, and operate a range of laboratory instruments used for sequencing and molecular analysis.
  • Receive, prepare, and process samples submitted by researchers and other GARP Core Facility users.
  • Support the overall operation of the laboratory and contribute to smooth day-to-day workflow.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold quality standards throughout each step of the profiling process.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on familiarity with genomic profiling technologies, particularly PCR and next generation sequencing.
  • Experience setting up and operating laboratory instrumentation and processing biological samples.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to follow established protocols precisely.
  • Capacity to manage multiple samples and tasks while supporting the needs of facility users.
