What This Role Involves

As a Deputy Sheriff Corrections officer for Weber County, you'll serve as a critical member of our correctional facility team. Operating under the supervision of experienced leadership—Chiefs, Captains, Lieutenants, Sergeants, and Corporals—you'll help maintain a secure environment where custody standards are upheld and inmates receive proper oversight.

Responsibilities

• Monitor inmate conduct and security throughout facility areas and housing units
• Perform routine patrols of cell blocks, common areas, and designated zones
• Respond promptly to incidents, disturbances, and emergency situations
• Maintain detailed activity logs and complete required documentation
• Enforce institutional rules and procedures with consistency and fairness
• Assist with inmate counts, verification procedures, and record accuracy
• Support medical, mental health, educational, and rehabilitation program operations
• Communicate effectively with inmates, staff members, and supervisory personnel
• Adhere to all safety protocols, security procedures, and correctional standards

Who We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid Utah driver's license or equivalent
• Ability to work full-time with flexible scheduling requirements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure
• Commitment to ethical conduct and professional integrity
• Physical capability to perform security duties and facility operations
• Willingness to work in a controlled correctional environment
