Role Overview
As our Summer Drivers Ed Classroom Teacher, you'll deliver comprehensive classroom-based driver education instruction to high school students preparing for licensure. Working under the guidance of the School Principal, you'll create an engaging learning environment where students develop critical understanding of traffic laws, vehicle safety protocols, and defensive driving principles. This summer intensive role combines traditional teaching excellence with the practical focus needed for driver education, helping each student gain confidence and competency around road safety.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver structured classroom lessons covering traffic rules, vehicle operation, and road safety regulations
- Assess student understanding through quizzes, written tests, and practical exercises to ensure mastery of licensing requirements
- Create lesson plans aligned with state-mandated driver education curriculum standards
- Manage classroom dynamics and maintain an environment conducive to learning
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of attendance and performance
- Collaborate with other instructors and school staff to ensure program consistency and student success
- Provide constructive feedback that builds student confidence while maintaining academic rigor
Skills & Qualifications
- Current high school teaching certification or equivalent professional qualification
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle safety, and defensive driving principles
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to engage diverse learners and adapt instruction to different learning styles
- Organized, detail-oriented approach to record-keeping and curriculum planning
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
