Mechanic-1st Shift

Waste Connections is hiring a full-time Mechanic for our Bayway, Union County facility, where you'll maintain and repair equipment that keeps our operations running and our drivers on the road.

Position Summary

As a Mechanic at our Bayway location, you'll play a vital role in our maintenance team, keeping our fleet in top working condition. Working Monday through Friday with alternating Saturday shifts, you'll support the drivers and teams who serve the community every day. This is a full-time position where skilled technicians who care about safety and quality make a direct impact on our service reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on company vehicles and equipment
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to keep equipment in safe operating condition
• Troubleshoot and service engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems
• Maintain detailed service records and maintenance logs
• Inspect equipment before and after use to identify potential problems
• Follow all safety protocols and industry standards

Who We're Looking For

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Experience working on heavy-duty equipment or commercial vehicles
• Valid driver's license and ability to work Monday–Friday with alternating Saturdays
• Commitment to safety and attention to detail
• Pride in craftsmanship and taking ownership of your work
• Relevant technical certifications or trade experience (ASE certification a plus)
