Youth Worker

Join LCFS (Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois) as a full-time Youth Care Worker in Mount Vernon, Jersey County, earning $19.40–$21.40 per hour. In this role, you'll provide essential supervision and mentorship to young people in our care.

What This Role Involves

As a Youth Care Worker with LCFS, you'll be at the heart of our mission to support children and families. This position requires consistent monitoring and direct supervision of youth, building relationships rooted in respect and accountability. You'll work as part of a team dedicated to creating stable, nurturing environments where young people can heal and grow.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and monitoring of youth assigned to your care
• Build positive relationships and model appropriate behavior and coping skills
• Implement treatment plans and behavioral interventions as directed by supervisors
• Document youth interactions and incidents accurately and in a timely manner
• Participate in team meetings and communicate effectively with colleagues
• Support youth in daily living activities, recreation, and skill-building
• Report concerns or behavioral changes to the Youth Care Supervisor

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Ability to supervise, manage, and appropriately de-escalate situations involving youth
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Willingness to undergo background screening and reference verification
• Physical ability to meet the demands of direct youth care work
• Commitment to supporting vulnerable children and families
