PRN – Pathologists Assistant

What This Role Involves

As a Pathologists Assistant with Sonic Healthcare USA, you'll provide essential laboratory support in our Tacoma pathology department. In this PRN position, you'll work directly with pathologists and laboratory professionals to process, examine, and analyze patient specimens, contributing to accurate diagnostic outcomes that impact patient care. This role offers the flexibility of part-time, as-needed scheduling in a clinical laboratory environment.

Your Responsibilities

• Prepare and process histological and cytological specimens under pathologist supervision
• Perform gross examination and description of tissue samples
• Prepare microscopic slides and assist with specimen analysis
• Maintain laboratory standards, procedures, and compliance protocols
• Document specimen information and pathology findings accurately
• Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure diagnostic quality
• Handle biopsies and other surgical specimens with appropriate care and precision

Requirements

• Pathologists Assistant certification or current eligibility for certification
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in laboratory work
• Knowledge of pathology procedures, specimen handling, and laboratory safety
• Ability to work independently and as part of a laboratory team
• Professional communication skills and commitment to patient privacy
• Flexibility to accommodate part-time, PRN scheduling as needed
