What This Role Involves

As a Paraprofessional in the specialized GRIT Program at Norton Middle School, you'll play a crucial role in supporting student success. Working under the direction of classroom teachers and program coordinators, you'll help deliver instruction, manage classroom environments, and provide direct assistance to students who benefit from one-on-one or small-group support. Your work directly impacts student achievement and social-emotional growth in our specialized program.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering instruction and reinforcing lesson concepts with individual students and small groups
• Monitor student behavior and engagement, providing encouragement and redirection as needed
• Support classroom organization, prepare materials, and maintain learning spaces
• Document student progress and share observations with teachers and program coordinators
• Help students develop academic and social skills in alignment with program goals
• Communicate regularly with families about student progress and program activities
• Follow all school policies, safety protocols, and professional standards

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to work effectively with middle school students, including those with diverse learning needs
• Strong communication skills and the ability to follow teacher and program coordinator direction
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Willingness to support the mission and values of Norton Public Schools
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive student information appropriately
