First Grade Teacher – Springdale Elementary School

In this First Grade Teacher role at Springdale Elementary School, you will create an engaging, inclusive learning environment where young students develop confidence, critical thinking, and a passion for discovery. Teaching first grade is foundational work—the skills and attitudes your students develop now shape their entire academic trajectory. You will design and implement instruction that meets Tennessee Academic Standards while responding to the diverse learning needs of individual students, creating a classroom where every child feels valued and capable of success.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated daily instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies using research-based practices
• Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments; identify students needing intervention or enrichment
• Implement evidence-based reading and math interventions tailored to individual student needs
• Establish and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that supports academic engagement and behavioral growth
• Communicate regularly with families about student progress, learning goals, and partnership opportunities for home support
• Collaborate with grade-level teams, special educators, and support staff to ensure coordinated, cohesive instruction
• Monitor and record student progress in core academic and behavioral areas; adjust instruction based on data

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
• Valid Tennessee elementary teaching license or current eligibility for licensure
• Knowledge of Tennessee Academic Standards and ability to align instruction accordingly
• Experience or demonstrated competency with differentiated instruction and small-group intervention strategies
• Strong oral and written communication skills for parent and staff collaboration
• Commitment to continuous professional learning and adoption of new instructional strategies
• Ability to work collaboratively within a school community focused on student achievement
