Position Summary

As Senior Manager of Statistics for Oncology at AbbVie, you'll direct statistical science strategy and execution for oncology clinical trials and development programs that advance cancer treatment. This role combines deep statistical expertise with people leadership—managing statisticians while driving innovative methodologies that support breakthrough oncology therapies. Based in Florham Park, Morris County, you'll partner across R&D, regulatory, and clinical teams to ensure statistical evidence underpins every stage of our oncology pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead development of statistical strategies and comprehensive analysis plans for Phase I–IV oncology clinical trials
• Direct and mentor a team of statisticians, fostering scientific excellence and professional development
• Ensure statistical rigor and regulatory compliance (FDA, ICH guidelines) across all development initiatives
• Collaborate with clinical, regulatory, and data science teams to translate business objectives into robust statistical study designs
• Oversee database management, data validation, and quality assurance processes for oncology studies
• Prepare statistical analyses and contribute to regulatory submissions, publications, and scientific presentations
• Champion innovative statistical methods and emerging analytical approaches in oncology research

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a closely related quantitative discipline
• 10+ years of statistical experience in pharmaceutical drug development, with at least 5 years in oncology
• Demonstrated leadership managing statistical teams in a clinical or pharmaceutical research setting
• Deep expertise in clinical trial design, biostatistical methods, and oncology therapeutic endpoints
• Proficient in SAS, R, Python, or comparable statistical software at an advanced level
• Comprehensive knowledge of FDA and ICH regulatory guidance for statistical sections of regulatory submissions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional and regulatory audiences
• Strong project and program management capability; ability to prioritize and execute complex, parallel initiatives
