Lab Manager, STAT & Physician’s Office Labs

Join Labcorp as a Lab Manager for our STAT and Physician's Office Labs in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. In this full-time role, you'll lead laboratory operations serving Central and North Alabama, managing daily workflows, staff, and quality standards for one of the nation's most trusted clinical laboratory networks.

About the Role

As Lab Manager for STAT and Physician's Office Labs in Birmingham, you'll oversee all operational aspects of the laboratory, from personnel management to test processing and regulatory compliance. You'll report directly to regional leadership and serve as the primary manager for your facility. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with flexibility as operational needs require. Candidates should reside within the Central and North Alabama territory. This position involves approximately 25–35% travel throughout the state to support physician offices and coordinate lab operations.

What You'll Do

• Manage daily laboratory operations, including personnel scheduling and workload distribution
• Ensure compliance with CLIA regulations and Labcorp quality standards
• Monitor test turnaround times and maintain high accuracy in STAT testing
• Supervise and mentor laboratory staff, fostering a culture of excellence
• Coordinate with affiliated physician offices and healthcare providers
• Implement process improvements and maintain equipment functionality
• Track budget performance and manage laboratory resources effectively
• Conduct safety and quality audits to maintain accreditation standards

What We're Looking For

• Proven laboratory management experience in clinical or hospital settings
• Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification, or equivalent
• Thorough knowledge of CLIA regulations and laboratory best practices
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to manage budgets and drive operational efficiency
• Availability for travel as needed within Alabama
• Flexibility to adjust schedule based on operational needs
