Landscape Intern

Join the City of Deerfield Beach's Planning & Development Services team as a full-time Landscape Intern, supporting critical urban forestry and landscape initiatives throughout Broward County.

About the Role

This full-time internship offers hands-on experience in community landscape management and urban forestry under the guidance of the Urban Forester. You'll contribute to projects that enhance the environmental quality and aesthetic appeal of Deerfield Beach, while operating within established departmental procedures and exercising independent judgment on task prioritization and execution methods.

What You'll Do

• Assist the Urban Forester with implementation of city-wide urban forestry initiatives
• Support landscape planning, installation, and maintenance projects
• Participate in community outreach related to trees and landscaping
• Help maintain and document landscape resources and improvements
• Learn professional horticultural and landscaping practices in a municipal setting

What We're Looking For

• Current enrollment in or recent completion of a horticulture, landscape architecture, environmental science, or related field
• Strong interest in urban forestry, landscaping, or environmental stewardship
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Physical capability to perform landscaping and ground maintenance tasks
• Reliable transportation to job sites throughout the city
• Willingness to learn professional practices and follow departmental procedures
