CPS/FAR Social Service Supervisor 5 (SSS5) – Tacoma

About the Role

As an SSS5 supervisor, you'll oversee child protective services and family assessment response operations for a designated caseload area. This full-time permanent position splits between office-based supervision and field-based activities, with regular regional travel to support frontline child welfare services and ensure compliance with state and federal standards.

What You'll Do

• Supervise and mentor social workers in CPS investigations and family response services
• Oversee case management, quality assurance, and adherence to agency protocols and legal requirements
• Conduct field visits and office consultations to guide casework decisions and child safety planning
• Coordinate with families, law enforcement, medical professionals, and community resources
• Monitor staff performance and provide professional development and coaching
• Ensure compliance with federal child welfare standards and Washington state regulations
• Participate in emergency response and crisis intervention as needed

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field
• Washington state social work license (LCSW, LSW, or LSSW) or equivalent professional credential
• Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible social services experience, including direct CPS or child welfare work
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, train, and support professional staff
• Strong knowledge of child welfare law, investigations protocols, and family-centered practice models
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Valid Washington driver's license and reliable transportation for field assignments
• Ability to work flexible hours and respond to urgent situations
