Durham Public Schools seeks a detail-oriented Magnet Technician to support our specialized magnet programs. This full-time, 12-month position is based in our district and offers an opportunity to contribute directly to student success through technical expertise and program support.
About the Role
As a Magnet Technician with Durham Public Schools, you'll provide essential technical and operational support to our magnet school programs. You'll work in a dynamic educational environment where your skills help enable specialized learning experiences for students and teachers.
What You'll Do
- Maintain and troubleshoot equipment and technology resources used in magnet program classrooms and laboratories
- Set up, test, and configure technical equipment to support program curriculum and student activities
- Provide technical assistance to teachers and students using specialized program resources
- Coordinate logistics and scheduling for program facilities and shared resources
- Document equipment status and maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs
- Support day-to-day operations that ensure smooth functioning of program-specific initiatives
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or specialized training preferred
- Proven experience in technical maintenance, equipment support, or similar technician roles
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to communicate clearly with diverse groups including students, teachers, and staff
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to support educational goals and work collaboratively in a school environment
- Reliability and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
